Mid-Valley League teams can breathe a sigh of relief this week after finishing four weeks of intra-conference play with their East Valley counterparts. East Valley teams dominated Valley Pac-8 Conference play, posting a 24-8 record against Mid-Valley teams.

Accounting for most of the damage were Poly (18-1, 11-0 in Valley Pac-8) and Sylmar (13-5, 9-2), which were 15-1 against Mid-Valley teams.

Poly outscored Mid-Valley teams, 45-7, in three games last week. Sylmar, which has lost only to Poly and Birmingham in conference play, pounded Mid-Valley pitching and boasts three of the top six batters among Valley City players. Rene Navarro (.484), Dereck Ornelas (.477) and Cain Camarillo (.462) were fourth, fifth and sixth through last week. Robert Garcia (.444) is not far behind.
