Disney Files Counterclaim Against Henson Heirs: Walt Disney Co., responding to the lawsuit filed last week by heirs of Muppets creator Jim Henson, said it had “an oral contract and an implied license” to use the Muppets in a 3-D film and a live show at Walt Disney World. Disney said it relied on the understanding that it could use the Muppets in investing at least $90 million in these attractions and asked the court for damages for the “breach of the implied covenant.” Disney charged that Henson’s heirs filed suit because they wanted “different terms and more money” than Disney and Jim Henson “ever had contemplated” for Disney’s acquisition of Henson’s company.
