School Superintendent Resigns
Shalee Cunningham, superintendent of the Hermosa Beach elementary school district for the past four years, has resigned effective this summer to head the Mammoth Unified School District, school board President Joe Mark said Tuesday.
Cunningham will stay on until July 1. The board, Mark said, will begin the selection process for a new superintendent in the coming months.
“This is a promotion for her. She’s moving up,” Mark said. “She’ll get a unified district in Mammoth, which means she’ll get to be involved with high school.
“We’re real sorry to see her go,” he added. “She was good--really good. She taught us what a superintendent is supposed to be. She makes it work, which is tough to do these days.”
