More than 200 pro and college athletes were among those bilked for phony disability insurance in a multimillion-dollar Georgia-based scam, testimony before a Senate panel showed. According to testimony or affidavits submitted to the investigations panel of the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, the players paid thousands of dollars for nonexistent injury insurance policies provided by Georgia-based Victoria Insurance Co. Among the players victimized were Buffalo Bill quarterback Jim Kelly and San Francisco 49er quarterback Joe Montana.
