ANAHEIM : School to Be Built on Former Campus
Students attending elementary school in the Centralia School District will soon have more room with plans under way to build a school on a vacant former school site.
The district owns two defunct sites and recently decided to reopen one, the former Centralia Elementary School, to accommodate the growing number of students attending the eight-campus district.
“The district is growing,” district spokeswoman Sally Pollack said. “This is a real growth area.”
Most students in the small district live in Buena Park, but Centralia spans portions of Anaheim and La Habra. The site to be reopened is at Lincoln and Western avenues in Anaheim.
District officials estimate it will cost $7 million to build the facility, which will include refurbishing six classrooms and the multipurpose room from the old Centralia Elementary. It will hold 500 to 600 students.
Construction is expected to be complete by January, 1993.
