RIFT: Sacramento insiders say Gov. Pete Wilson is lining up against any draft of Curt Pringle to replace John R. Lewis in a special election expected later this year. Pringle has enlisted at least 17 supporters in the Assembly, but his bid could pit the Republican right-wingers who back him against party moderates. . . . Pringle lost his Assembly seat last year to Democrat Tom Umberg. Lewis is running for the state Senate, which will leave his seat open. Wilson supporters are said to be backing Orange Councilman William G. Steiner for Lewis’ slot.
