A mail carrier led several bystanders who chased down and apprehended a man who allegedly robbed a hair salon in Reseda Friday.

Police arrested a man, whose name was not released, on charges of armed robbery after he was apprehended by postman Ron Sindilar near the Windsor Shopping Center at Tampa Avenue and Saticoy Street, police said.

Wafa Awada, manager of Future Cuts in the shopping center, said the robber asked for a haircut just before noon, then handed her a slip of paper with a warning that he had a gun in his pocket. After she handed him the money from her cash register she noticed that he didn’t appear to have a gun.

“I started screaming for help and then I called the police,” Awada said. Meanwhile, Sindilar and several other bystanders saw the man flee on foot and took off in pursuit. They cornered him about a half-block away on Sylvia Avenue and held him until police arrived.
