Former Prosecutor Held on Cocaine Charges
A former Los Angeles County deputy district attorney has been charged with trying to arrange the sale of 10 kilograms of cocaine to a man who was then going to sell the drug to street gangs, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration said Friday.
The former prosecutor, Derrick Walker, 31, was being held in County Jail in lieu of $2.5 million bail, said DEA spokesman Ralph Lochridge.
Walker, who left the district attorney’s office in early 1988, was arrested Tuesday night in Hollywood, said district attorney spokesman Mike Botula.
Also arrested was Earl Stewart, who was held in lieu of $2.5 million bail.
They were arrested in a sting operation after Walker arranged for drug dealers--who turned out to be undercover DEA agents--to supply the cocaine to Stewart, the DEA said.
