Who Will Pay Costs to Appeal Releaguing?
Regarding the five school districts that are appealing the CIF Southern Section’s recent decision of allowing Orange County’s Catholic schools to participate in public leagues, I have two questions: Where is the money coming from to pay the lawyers who filed the appeals and who will represent the district? Isn’t this money needed to educate our children? Thank goodness I live in the Orange Unified School District, which has not chosen to be so frivolous with taxpayers’ funds.

Editor’s note: According to Peter Hartman, superintendent of Saddleback Valley Unified School District, some of the districts will share the cost of the Costa Mesa firm that will represent them May 10 before the State CIF in Carson. The Southern Section will be represented by its regular counsel.
