Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Car Crash
A 15-year-old boy was killed Monday and his passenger injured when the car he was driving went out of control and crashed into a light pole in the Park La Brea area, police said.
The boy died at the scene of the crash, which occurred as he was westbound on 3rd Street at Ogden Drive, said West Traffic Division Sgt. John Kelley. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
Paramedics took the surviving boy, also 15, to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, police reported. The cause of the 2:30 a.m. crash was under investigation, Kelley said.
