Car Slams Into Bus; 4 Teen-Agers Hurt
NEWPORT BEACH — Four teen-agers were injured, two seriously, when a car they were riding in collided with a bus, police said.
The accident occurred about 6:10 p.m. at Superior Avenue and Hospital Road, police said. The youths’ names and ages were not available.
Police Sgt. John Desmond said the small sedan was northbound on Superior Avenue when it slammed into the side of an Orange County Transit District bus that was turning left from Hospital Road onto southbound Superior Avenue. The bus carried no passengers.
Two teen-agers sitting in the front seats sustained serious head injuries and were transported to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
One of the back-seat passengers was treated at the scene and released, while the fourth was taken to Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach.
