Texas Instruments Plans Singapore Plant

Texas Instruments Inc. said it will build a $330-million microchip plant inSingapore as part of a joint venture with Canon Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co.

the Singapore plant, to be known as TECH Semiconductor Singapore Pte. Ltd.,should be operational by mid-1993, the company said. Texas Instruments will own 26% of the venture and eventually hold a majority stake.

Canon and Hewlett-Packard each will own 24% and will be guaranteed 24% of the plants production of memory chips.
