MOSCOW : A Visitor From Beijing

Military cutbacks along their 4,500 mile border and possible sales of advanced jet fighters are expected to be on the agenda during a five-day official visit to the Soviet capital by Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Jiang Zemin beginning Wednesday.

It will be the first such visit by a Chinese leader in 34 years. Sino-Soviet ties were normalized by Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev’s 1989 visit to Beijing.

The two sides have reached a draft agreement demarcating the eastern sector of their long-disputed border but have not announced whether it will be signed during Jiang’s trip.
