10 Arrested After Store Burglarized
Ten people were arrested after they allegedly rushed into a Burbank children’s clothing store, stuffed plastic garbage bags with clothing and fled before stunned employees could react, Burbank police said Tuesday.
Six men and four women were being held on charges of burglarizing a business, Burbank police Sgt. Edward B. Skvarna said. The incident at Kids Mart on San Fernando Road near Burbank Boulevard began at 2:48 p.m. Monday. Police arrested the 10 people, all residents of the Ramparts area, about 15 minutes later, he said.
Those who took the clothing did not display any weapons and did not use force, Skvarna said. “They just surprised” the single employee present by quickly stuffing their bags with about $2,000 worth of goods, he said.
A customer in the store and a passerby both followed the robbers, who climbed into a pickup truck. A nearby police car pulled over a pickup fitting the description and arrested the 10 people.
