SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Two Seniors Win $1,000 Scholarships
Two high school seniors have won $1,000 college scholarships in the Capistrano Unified Education Assn.’s “Future Teacher of California” competition.
Kim Klein of Capistrano Valley High School and Jennifer Valades of Dana Hills High School won the competition based upon their academic records, school and community involvement and other criteria. The scholarships are sponsored by the association, which is the Capistrano Unified School District’s teachers’ union, and the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo.
Klein and Valades have pledged to enter a program leading to a teaching credential at a California university. The scholarships will be awarded when they begin their student-teaching assignments in about four years.
