KAISER KARL

Regarding “Kaiser Karl” (by Rone Tempest, April 14): Lagerfeld may actually dress the vraie riche , but his inclusive style identifies with the keen upper bourgeois who are intolerably insulted by such ‘90s garbage as less-constructed jackets for the new, “real” attitude. And although this image maker’s image makers don’t verbalize it, some of the earthiest, urban life styles are identified in his collections.

How quaint that the designer who blends the lines of time and geography in his own personal style as well as in his designs, should embrace one of the most indigenous components of our culture: the McDonald’s Double Cheeseburger, sans bun. Just tell us one thing--how does leftist caviar differ from Beluga? A grand merci , Karl, for providing a little provincial fun.
