Targeting Lear: The Rev. Donald Wildmon is taking aim at “All in the Family” creator Norman Lear, CBS and advertisers on Lear’s first new show in several years, “Sunday Dinner,” which Wildmon claims is anti-Christian and designed to promote Lear’s “New Age/secular humanist religion.” “Sunday Dinner,” premiering June 2, addresses God, spirituality and the meaning of life. Wildmon, the leader of the religious right’s crusade to purge television of material he finds offensive, is asking advertisers not to sponsor the show because, he said, it is emblematic of the “anti-Christian bigotry which CBS has been practicing for years” and produced by “the same Norman Lear who has ridiculed and belittled Christianity in past programs.”
