UCSD Ranks Eighth After First Round of NCAA Golf
UC San Diego is eighth, 13 strokes off the lead, after the first round of the 72-hole NCAA Division III men’s golf championships at the par-73 Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.
UCSD’s four top scores totaled 312 strokes. Cal State San Bernardino, the second-ranked team in Division III, is leading the tournament with a score of 299.
Ohio Wesleyan is second at 302 and Methodist (N.C.) third at 303.
Dale Abrahm and Bob Knee of UCSD each shot a 76, four strokes behind co-leaders Tim DeJarlais of Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) and Galen Eckland of Ohio Wesleyan.
UCSD’s Devin Thomas shot a 79, Jeremy Moe 81 and Matt Stottern 82.
The 13th annual Jim Laslavic Golf Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society will be played June 2 at the Coronado Municipal Golf Course. The cost is $60 for golf, cart and prizes. For more information, contact Rose Romo, event coordinator, at the the American Cancer Society, 299-4200.
SENIOR OLYMPICS
