Region : Help for Soviet Immigrants

The Bureau of Jewish Education is seeking volunteers who speak Russian or Yiddish to “adopt” Soviet immigrants.

More than 350 single people and families have taken part in the program so far, but the bureau is seeking to pair senior citizens with newly arrived Soviet Jews who are unfamiliar with the American way of life and who have no knowledge of Jewish traditions.

Information about the program is available from Donna Bayer-Sinib at 651-5573, or from Esther Krisman at 852-7702, Ext. 2220.
