Thousand Oaks : Cal Lutheran Rite to Honor Largest Class
Cal Lutheran University will hold commencement ceremonies Sunday, at Mt. Clef Stadium for its largest graduating class.
Bachelor’s degrees will be awarded to 379 students and master’s degrees to 255, said Jean Sandlin, university spokeswoman. Commencement day begins with a baccalaureate service in the gymnasium at 9:30 a.m. The speaker will be campus Pastor Mark Knutson.
A brunch for graduates and their guests is scheduled at 11 a.m. Commencement ceremonies begin at 1 p.m. John Slaughter, president of Occidental College, will give a speech titled “Back to the Future XXI.”
Slaughter will be receiving an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Cal Lutheran, Sandlin said. In addition, an honorary doctor of laws degree will be given to Westlake Village resident John Newman, president and chief executive officer of CBS/SONY California Inc. in Oxnard.
