The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the U.S. Auto Club said they are considering changing the engine specifications for the Indianapolis 500 to conform to those of the Formula One series. If they are adopted, the changes would make the current turbocharged engines obsolete and, in theory, provide greater competition. The normally aspirated 3.5-liter engine is used in both the Formula One and World Sports Prototype championships.
