N.Y. Opera Considers Move: The New York City Opera, which has been part of Lincoln Center since 1966, is eyeing a new location: the ornate Art Nouveau, long-closed New Amsterdam Theater on West 42nd Street, which once housed the Ziegfeld Follies. The New Amsterdam could offer an uninterrupted season for the opera company, now sharing the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center with the New York City Ballet. Executives from the theaters involved acknowledge that the move is being discussed but add that there are many hurdles before it could become a reality.
