Man Shot to Death in Argument Over Drugs

A man was shot to death by another man who he had accused of cheating him in a drug deal in the Westlake area west of downtown, authorities said Thursday.

The 33-year-old victim, whose name was withheld until his relatives could be notified, was shot with a handgun shortly before midnight Wednesday in the 800 block of Lake Street, Police Detective John Murphy said.

“A dispute erupted over a possible drug rip-off and he was shot in the confrontation,” Murphy said. Witnesses told police that the victim had accused the gunman of cheating him.
