Griffin Is a Player Whose Time Has Come
Alfredo Griffin has a bright future. He is intelligent, bilingual, and commands the respect of those he meets. He is a man of strong character and a good businessman. He will make someone a fine general manager.
It is time for Alfredo to quit playing baseball and get on with his life. He just isn’t a major league player anymore, not unless his back heals. He is not in a slump. He has maintained a really awful level of play for more than a year now. It’s not Alfredo’s fault he still has a major league roster spot; it’s the job of the team to decide these things. And worse yet, Alfredo has to play in terrible pain. I call on the Dodgers to offer Griffin a significant front-office job and stop tormenting him by pretending he can still play.
