La Verne : Walking Tour Saturday
The city and its redevelopment agency will sponsor a walking tour of La Verne’s Oldtown Saturday, followed by a town meeting to discuss ways of preserving and improving the area through a revised Specific Plan.
The walking tour will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the University of La Verne Bookstore, 2335 D St. The town meeting will begin at 1 p.m. in the university’s Davenport Dining Hall.
The city is planning to revise the Oldtown Specific Plan developed nearly 10 years ago.
Officials said they do not intend to alter the goals of the original plan but will consider steps to encourage historic preservation and to apply updated parking, community design and sign standards.
