San Dimas : Sign-Ups for Rescue Team

Volunteers who want to work on a mountain rescue team have a chance to sign up between now and July for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reserve unit that covers 250 square miles of the San Gabriel Mountains in the eastern half of the Angeles National Forest.

Candidates for the department’s San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team need to be at least 21 years of age and in good physical condition. In addition, volunteers must have a high school education, possess a valid driver’s license and live within 20 minutes of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station.

Training takes place one weekend per month over a six-month period and on four evenings.
