Entertainment B&B; Discounts

Entertainment Publications, which produces leisure and recreational discount directories for more than 100 American cities, has added an international directory of bed and breakfast inns. A 25% discount is offered off regular rates to Entertainment Bed & Breakfast Plus members at participating B&Bs; in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and the Caribbean. The directory includes a brief description of each inn or guest home. Symbols indicate how B&Bs; are priced, prior to the discount: $30-$60, $60-$100, $100-$150 and up.

Another symbol specifies whether travelers get a full breakfast or just a continental breakfast. With the growth in popularity of B&Bs;, travelers can now find inns that offer the American Plan (all three meals), Modified American Plan (two meals) or even the European Plan (no meals).

Other symbols tell whether there is a shared bath, if there is a no-smoking rule and if credit cards are honored.

The directory also includes a list of bed and breakfast reservation services that handle bookings in various geographic regions.

While the directory offers some information on the location of properties, it is still a good idea to get more specifics on whether an inn, for example, is in a downtown area or suburb, and what sort of parking is available. Other possible questions: Are children or pets accepted? What are the hours for breakfast and any other meals, and are kitchen privileges provided? Are laundry facilities available?

It’s necessary to make advance reservations and to identify yourself as an Entertainment Bed & Breakfast Plus member. Rooms are on a space-available basis. Since there are fewer rooms at a B&B; than a hotel, holidays and other peak periods can be difficult to reserve. Ask that a written confirmation be sent to you, or jot down a confirmation number and the name of the person handling the booking. You must show your Entertainment Publications ID card at check-in.
