Ice Shows and Ice Rinks Blanket the Southland
This year, a number of skating shows are coming to the Southland, including:
* Fifth annual “Star Spangled Ice” show, July 6 at 8 p.m. Starring and choreographed by 1980 Olympic champ Robin Cousins, with national amateur competitors and guest stars. At the Blue Jay Ice Castle rink near Lake Arrowhead. Benefits the Foundation for International Ice Skating Advancement. * Eighteenth annual “Showcase for Skaters,” July 6-7. Theatrical competition sponsored by Los Angeles Figure Skating Club at Pickwick Ice Arena, 1001 Riverside Drive, Burbank. For ticket prices and times: (818) 846-0035.
* United States Olympic Festival, July 13-14. Figure-skating competition for top amateurs, various times at the Great Western Forum. Ticket prices: $12 and $15 per event, or $50 for all-event series. Practice sessions at the Culver Ice Rink may be open to the public. Information: (213) 489-1440.
