Jury Convicts Man of Plotting to Kill Wife
A Palmdale man who tried to hire someone to blow up his wife was found guilty of soliciting murder by a San Fernando Superior Court jury Monday.
Sadeem Syed Husain, 28, could be sent to state prison for up to nine years when he is sentenced June 19, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Sera J. Boyadjian.
“This man was a very possessive and jealous husband,” Boyadjian said.
Husain discussed killing his wife, Gail, with two people on three different occasions, Boyadjian said.
In one conversation, Husain and another man discussed “blowing up the victim in her car,” using a pound and a half of explosives, Boyadjian said.
Husain was arrested Feb. 7 after a girlfriend of one of the men he solicited became concerned and notified authorities.
Defense attorney George J. Savin Jr. argued that Husain intended to blow up his wife’s car, “without her in it” to limit where she could go with their child. The two were separated at the time and he was concerned about his daughter, Savin said.
Husain said the other man brought up the idea of explosives and though he often told co-workers he wanted to kill his wife, his statements were not taken seriously.
Gail Husain testified that her husband had physically and verbally abused her in the past. Shortly before his arrest Husain told his wife that”he was thinking of different ways to kill her,” Boyadjian said.
