World IN BRIEF : COLOMBIA : Peace Talks Begin With Rebel Group

The government and leftist guerrillas opened peace talks aimed at ending three decades of political violence, and delegates from both sides said they expect negotiations to be long and complex. The talks, conducted in Venezuela, are the first at a high level between authorities and the Simon Bolivar Guerrilla Coordinator, a movement made up of three groups with 8,000 men under arms.
