A pregnant Santee woman was killed when her car was rear-ended by a man suspected of drunk driving on an off-ramp of California 67, the California Highway Patrol said Tuesday.
Kimberly Lancaster, 22, died at 11:52 p.m. Monday at Sharp Memorial Hospital, said Officer Mona DeMello-hoss, a CHP spokeswoman. Lancaster was five months pregnant.
The crash occurred about 7:45 p.m. Monday as Paul Henri Dyke, 31, of Lakeside was traveling north on California 67, DeMello-hoss said.
Dyke was allegedly driving recklessly and at high speed when he exited the Bradley Avenue off-ramp and rear-ended Lancaster’s car, which was stopped at a red light at the bottom of the ramp, DeMello-hoss said.
Dyke suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization, DeMello-hoss said. He was booked into County Jail on suspicion of felony drunk driving and manslaughter.
