Monrovia : A Ban on Skateboards
Skateboarding will be illegal on Monrovia’s school campuses and in Library Park after a unanimous vote Tuesday by the City Council.
The Monrovia school district contacted the city about outlawing skateboards because of concern over liability in the case of an accident.
Community Service Director Eileen Brownell recommended that skateboarding also be prohibited in Library Park, where there is a low wall that has become a favorite spot for the sport.
Though there have been no accidents in the park, skateboards flying through the air have broken library windows in the past, Brownell said.
