Orel Hershiser said one of the best things about his standout performance Tuesday night was the postgame interview.

“Do you know that not once was I asked a question about my shoulder?” Hershiser said Wednesday. “Nobody asked me if I was stiff. Nobody asked me if I was sore. It was the first time since my surgery that I gave an all-baseball interview. What a great feeling.”

Hershiser, however, was asked how his shoulder was feeling Wednesday.

“It feels great, everything is fine,” he said. “Now I can’t wait for the day when that stops becoming a question on the day after I pitch.”

Hershiser also said that his right hamstring, which tightened and forced him to leave Tuesday’s game in the seventh inning, felt fine.

Hershiser’s next start will be Sunday in Chicago against another pitcher coming off an injury, Danny Jackson.

Many Dodger officials, including owner Peter O’Malley, attended services in Whittier Wednesday for Tom Lasorda Jr., who died Monday.

Tom Lasorda will resume managing the Dodgers today for the final game of the series in St. Louis.

John Wetteland, a former starter who is being groomed in triple-A Albuquerque as a future Dodger reliever, has a sore shoulder. Officials say it happened while he was carrying luggage. Wetteland had six saves in 12 relief appearances in Albuquerque. . . . Barry Lyons has not yet reported to Albuquerque, even though he was demoted there May 29 and was supposed to report by June 2. Lyons, who would have to play behind prospect Carlos Hernandez, has asked to be traded. The Dodgers agreed to the request, but Claire said Lyons would have to at least report to the minor leagues. “If he does not show up, then that becomes another matter,” Claire said. . . . How important is fielding? The Dodgers’ team batting average was lower in May (.242) than in April (.250). Their team earned-run average was higher (3.11 to 2.96). But in April they went 10-10 while going 17-10 in May. One big difference was that they committed 25 errors in April but committed 19 errors in 27 games in May.
