Granada Hills West 6, Agoura Oak-Park 3--Right-handers Heath McElwee and Bryan Martin combined on a five-hitter to lead Granada Hills West at Agoura.
McElwee (1-0) allowed four hits over six innings, struck out eight, walked two and allowed one earned run.
Brian Basowski homered for Granada Hills West (4-1).
Panorama City 9, Granada Hills East 4--J.T. Billingslea capped Panorama City’s six-run third inning with a bases-clearing triple, and visiting Panorama City (4-0) led, 9-1, after three innings at Kennedy High.
Granada Hills East closed the gap with three runs in the fifth. Chris Frith-Smith (1-0) earned the victory for Panorama City, and Cody Beaumaster took the loss.
Denny Sharp struck out 10 in 4 1/3 innings of relief for Granada Hills East.
Glendale 6, Las Virgenes 3 (eight innings)--Glendale pitcher Lance Evans (2-1) struck out nine and made a winner of himself when he broke a 3-3 tie in top of the eighth with a two-run double at Calabasas High.
Lancaster 10, Verdugo Hills 6--Host Lancaster (2-2) sent 12 men to the plate and eight hit safely in a nine-run, first-inning outburst.
Jack Cox closed out Lancaster’s scoring in the first with a bases-loaded triple. Cox also had a double, and Lancaster banged out five extra-base hits.
Sepulveda 8, Palmdale 1--Sepulveda’s Brad Fullmer was three for three with two doubles and a home run. Fullmer broke a scoreless tie with a two-run home run in the fourth and had a three-run double in the fifth.
Steve Cain (1-0) allowed one run in six innings to earn the victory for host Sepulveda (3-0) in the game at Kennedy High. Sepulveda led, 8-0, after five innings. Palmdale is 2-2.
DISTRICT 16
Conejo A 7, Oxnard 4--Conejo (6-0) banged three home runs at Oxnard High.
Brent Christenson, who batted .373 as a freshman starter at Brigham Young this season, hit two home runs--a three-run shot in the first and two-run homer in the seventh.
Adam West had a two-run homer in the sixth. Mike Lee (2-0) picked up the victory in relief.
Camarillo 6, Newbury Park 2--Pitchers Eric Raba and Dan Hile combined to limit host Newbury Park to four hits.
Jon McMullen homered for Camarillo (2-0) and John Freedman had three hits.
