Owner-Built Homes to Be Dedicated
A Moorpark affordable housing development that was built by its owners will open Sunday at a dedication ceremony where Cardinal-elect Roger Mahoney of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will speak.
Instead of making a down payment, the 62 families who own the single-family houses worked a combined 40 hours a week for about 10 months hammering and sawing, Jeanette Duncan of Peoples’ Self-Help Housing said. Duncan’s group supervised construction.
The dedication ceremony will be at 3 p.m. at the development.
