Andre Cason, the world indoor champion, warmed up for the Mobil Outdoor Track and Field Championships by winning the 100-meter dash in 10.30 seconds at the Metropolitan Athletics Congress Last Chance meet at Downing Stadium in New York.

The championships begin Wednesday at Downing and continue through Saturday.

“I’m still not 100% after pulling my right hamstring (last month),” Cason said. “Even though I already qualified for the meet, it was important for me to run and get the feel of competition.”

Cason won the world title at 60 meters in March at Seville, Spain.

Tom McCants, who had already qualified for the nationals, cleared 7-1 in winning the high jump. Felicia Hodges cleared 6-0 3/4 in the women’s high jump and won on fewer misses over Yuta Shelton, who made the same height. Both advanced to the nationals.
