UPI’s union employees approved a second extension of a wage cut that company officials said is necessary to sell the news service. The Wire Service Guild, after counting ballots at its headquarters in New York, said employees of United Press International who are members of the union voted by a 64% majority in favor of the wage concession. The proposal calls for wages to remain at 75% of normal until July 13 and then increase to 80%. Pay will return to 100% on Sept. 14 or when the company is sold.
