Semiconductor shipments in the U.S. market increased during the month of May, but a slowing of new orders caused the industry’s market indicator, the book-to-bill ratio, to decline. Semiconductor billings for May (shipments based on a three-month moving average) increased 2.5% over last month. Shipments in May were $1.29 billion, up from April’s billings of $1.26 billion. The May book-to-bill ratio was 1.04, down from April’s 1.15.
