RETAIL/LEISURE
Hello, Texas: Wet Seal is continuing its march through the Sunbelt.
On the heels of being cited by Time magazine as one of the nation’s most refreshingly new chain retailers, the Irvine-based company is about to enhance its growing empire by expanding into Texas.
The retailer plans to open stores this August in malls in Houston and Dallas. The two stores are among 20 that Wet Seal intends to open this year. The young women’s apparel chain, which got its start as a single beachwear store on Balboa Island in 1962, now has 97 stores in California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii and Florida.
