Sturges Will Play for Lewis-Clark
Brian Sturges, a catcher at Thousand Oaks High, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play baseball at Lewis-Clark State College, an NAIA school in Lewiston, Ida.
Sturges selected Lewis-Clark on the basis of the strength of the program--Lewis-Clark has won 11 of the past 13 NAIA championships--and a recommendation from Don Hornback, whose Woodland Hills West American Legion team played at Lewis-Clark two summers ago during the regionals.
Sturges is the second area player to choose Lewis-Clark. El Camino Real shortstop Gregg Sheren committed to the school last month.
A Times All-Ventura County selection, Sturges batted .365 and led Thousand Oaks with five home runs. He stole 11 bases and drove in 24 runs.
