VENTURA : Freeway Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run
A 20-year-old man was killed early Friday when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle while walking along the Ventura Freeway, officials said.
Ernest Garcia Camarillo of Ventura was walking north near California Street in Ventura at about 3:50 a.m. when a northbound vehicle struck him and then fled the scene, Highway Patrol spokesman Jim Utter said.
He said investigators had no idea why Camarillo was walking on the freeway.
Deputy Coroner Mitch Breese said the man wasn’t carrying any identification when he was found, but identity was made through fingerprints.
Utter said he hopes someone who may have seen the hit-and-run will contact police.
