Loughery Takes Miami Heat Job
From Staff and Wire Reports
Kevin Loughery took his sixth NBA coaching job Monday when he was named coach of the Miami Heat, but the hiring was not without controversy.
Loughery, an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks, will not join the Heat until after the June 26 draft, and Miami co-owner Lewis Schaffel was unhappy with the arrangement.
“We have no choice but to comply,” Schaffel said.
The Hawks did not want to release Loughery until after the draft because he had been “part of the decision-making process,” Schaffel said.
