Hello Freedom: Broadway producer David Merrick was arraigned Monday in New York City on charges he was carrying too much unreported cash as he boarded a flight to London last week. Magistrate Michael L. Orenstein let Merrick remain free without bail. The 78-year-old Merrick, who suffered a stroke several years ago, was with his 37-year-old girlfriend Natalie Ting Teresa when he was arrested at Kennedy International Airport. Merrick, known for such Broadway hits as “42nd Street” and “Hello, Dolly!” was carrying more than $140,000 in undeclared cash and traveler’s checks when he tried to leave for London.
