About 291 acres of wildlife habitat officially was added to Malibu Creek State Park at a ceremony Tuesday attended by California Secretary of Resources Douglas Wheeler and state parks officials.

The Malibu property, which includes spectacular views of Malibu Canyon and the Pacific Ocean, is in the process of being transferred to the state Department of Parks and Recreation by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, which acquires mountain property for state and federal parks agencies.

The conservancy purchased the 291 acres over the past two years from three private landowners for about $3.94 million.
