J. Raymond Jones, 91, the first black to run New York City’s Tammany Hall and a mentor to many of New York City’s most influential blacks. Jones, a political kingmaker known as the Harlem Fox, headed Tammany Hall--Manhattan’s powerful Democratic organization--from 1964 to 1967.
