BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Bannister Activated; Rose Sent Down

Left-hander Floyd Bannister was activated off the disabled list, restoring the Angels’ pitching staff to 11. To make room for him on the roster, infielder Bobby Rose was optioned to triple-A Edmonton. Bannister last pitched May 17 before being idled by tendinitis in his left biceps. He made rehabilitation appearances for Class-A Palm Springs last Friday and Sunday, pitching 2 2/3 innings in relief. He gave up two hits and no runs. Rose, who had been promoted from Edmonton last week, appeared in three games. He was three for eight.

The Angels announced the signing of second-round draft pick Chris Pritchett of UCLA and outfielder Ron Martin of Downey High School, a 22nd-round selection. Pritchett, a first baseman, hit .328 in 58 games with 18 homers and 57 RBIs his senior year. He is scheduled to report to Class-A Boise of the Northwest League today. . . . King winger Tony Granato, who spends his summers in Madison, Wis., worked out with the Angels Tuesday. He wore uniform number 21, his number with the Kings.
