Northridge Signs Pair for Men’s Track
Marshall Evans of San Diego Mira Mesa High and Rick Provenzano of Glendale College have signed letters of intent with the Cal State Northridge track and field team, Coach Don Strametz said Wednesday.
Evans recorded a personal best of 48.35 seconds in the 400-meter race and placed sixth in that event in the state championships June 1.
A 200-meter specialist before the season, Evans won the San Diego Section title in the 400 before running 48.35 to finish third in his qualifying heat in the state meet.
Provenzano, a former standout at Arcadia High, won the Western State Conference title in the 800 meters this season, placed third in the Southern California championships and was 10th in the state meet.
The addition of Evans and Provenzano brings to 13 (six men, seven women), the number of track athletes CSUN has signed since April 10.
