FLICKS FILM AND VIDEO FILE : Sticky Fingers : A film that takes place on the football field deals with the inevitability of aging.
The Ray D. Prueter Library’s Family Film Night on Wednesday will feature “Sticky My Fingers, Fleet My Feet.” It’s the story of a group of middle-aged men, past their prime, who play weekly games of football in an attempt to ignore the aging process. Then one day they allow a 15-year-old boy to join them on the field and he outshines each of them. The library is located at 510 Park Ave., Port Hueneme. Show time is 7 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 486-5460.
More family flicks: The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District will present the annual “Films Under the Stars” series at the Bicentennial Amphitheater beginning Wednesday with a showing of “Baby--Secret of the Lost Legend.” That will be followed by “Jungle Book” (July 24) and “Batteries Not Included” (Aug. 21).
Bicentennial Amphitheater is an outdoor, grass-seating theater so it might not be a bad idea to dress warmly. The theater is located at Rancho Community Park, 1765 Royal Ave. in Simi Valley. Admission is free. Each of the three movies will begin at 8 p.m. There is room on the grass for about 500 people. For more information, call 584-4400.
What’s hot at local video stores over the past week? Let’s just say it was nearly a Streep sweep. Meryl Streep’s “Postcards from the Edge” was among the top two most frequently rented videos in a sampling of stores. If it hadn’t been for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s latest home release, it would have been no contest. Here are the top five from from some local outlets:
At Blockbuster Video in Port Hueneme: “Postcards from the Edge,” “Kindergarten Cop,” “Green Card,” “The Rookie,” “Neverending Story II” and “The Applegates.”
At Video 4 You and Video Depot in Thousand Oaks: “Postcards from the Edge,” “Kindergarten Cop,” “Mermaids,” “Jacob’s Ladder,” “Predator II.”
At Giant Video in Fillmore: “Kindergarten Cop,” “Postcards from the Edge,” “Green Card,” “White Fang” and “The Grifters.”
