Benefit for Interfaith Shelter Network Is Today
A benefit for the Orange County Interfaith Shelter Network will be held today at the La Habra United Methodist Church. The Whittier Barbershop Chorus will entertain at the 8 p.m. event.
The Interfaith Shelter Network provides shelter to needy people for up to 90 days from October through March. Forty churches are involved in the program, and four churches shelter the participants on a rotating basis.
Participants in the program must be working or seeking employment. They are required to save 80% of their wages to put toward housing. Cots, blankets and hygiene supplies are supplied.
The Interfaith Network is managed by two paid employees with the support of many volunteers.
Tickets to the benefit are $7.50 and include refreshments. The La Habra United Methodist Church is at 631 N. Euclid St., La Habra. Information: (714) 691-1797.
