THOUSAND OAKS : Diners Evacuated From Restaurant
Smoke forced about 30 patrons of a Thousand Oaks restaurant away from the breakfast table Friday morning when officials discovered a smoldering electrical panel in the kitchen.
The incident, which caused an estimated $4,000 in damage, occurred at 8:40 a.m. inside Bob’s Big Boy, in the 100 block of Rolling Oaks Drive, Fire Capt. Lloyd Wood said. Employees and customers were evacuated from the restaurant when a circuit breaker overloaded, Wood said. The restaurant was closed for about three hours while electricians rewired the panel.
“Had it happened after closing, the next time we saw the building it would have been in flames,” Wood said.
